The Children’s Home Project
Every volunteer will be placed in one of nine different children’s homes, (previously known as orphanages) for the afternoon. The main aim of the children’s home project is to offer children extra curricular teaching to help them to catch up with other children their age. Ultimately, we hope that this will help them have a better chance of finding a career once they leave the homes.
Due to severe underfunding, the living standards at these homes are extremely basic and substantially understaffed. Our volunteers act as role models for the children, showcasing their own positive values of dedication, caring and morality.
Training: Workshop
Working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This safeguarding children training is run by a Sri Lankan children’s rights activist from the foundation of law and justice. The workshop includes: child protection guidelines, guidance on appropriate conduct with children, guidance for behaviour management and tips on educational games.
